English Walnut Archtop

Built between 2022 and 2023, this is my most recent guitar and represents the style and quality of instrument I want to make in the future.

Initially inspired by early gibson archtops, this design features a round soundhole as opposed to the more traditional f-holes found on most archtop guitars. I have combined this with an x-brace to create an open sounding instrument, comparable to a flat topped guitar.

Also taking inspiration from the violin family, this instrument has an overhang and purfling instead of conventional binding. This feature increases the reparability of the instrument, protects the edge of the guitar from damage and also allowed me to flute the perimeter to change the flexibility of the top.
