Tackhead Banjo

Built from reclaimed materials, this is my third fretless tackhead banjo.

Tackhead banjos differ from normal banjos by having the hide head directly attached to the pot by a number of tacks. This means the head tension isn’t adjustable however the lack of hooks or a tension hoop makes the construction extremely lightweight.

This banjo has a very mellow tone and is currently strung up with synthetic gut strings.

The lack of frets also allows the bridge position to be changed. This allows for a variety of tones
